Hi Gulf Man...Curiousity, what are the Coronoavirus numbers worldwide and how does it compare to the numbers of the flu. Remove the hyperbole and talk numbers. The concern is not that we always should be vigilant to Flu’s. However, the suggestion is this Flu is not any more substantial a real significant way then others. If healthy people under 55 were dropping dead from it, or even healthy people under 75 were dropping dead in significant ways then maybe. But with the exclusion of older unstable immune centric people are succumbing. At the end of the day when all the numbers are calculated we will see. It is always better to walk with precaution, but not pandemonium. Best elsewhere to the honest, common sense group of liberals you will join.

..Over 80,000 Americans Died of Flu in 2018... 90 percent of those deaths were in people over age 65 (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/01/health/flu-deaths-vaccine.html) A four-week stretch saw the flu kill older Americans at a rate of 169 people a day, or seven people per hour. (https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2018/older-flu-deaths-rising.html)

If this stat is accurate, how many of those who have died from COVID-19 would have died in the past month if they had contracted this year’s seasonal flu? We have never shut down our economy for any reason before.

I have no idea what "immune-centric" is supposed to mean. I'm guessing that you meant to write:

With the exception of older people with compromised immune systems, no one is succumbing.

Right?

Previously healthy people under 75 are dropping dead in significant numbers internationally. Less so here because not many have died here yet.

Italy is a mess. France is headed that way. Yes, it’s mostly old (75+) people, but nowhere close to entirely. I haven’t found updated CDC stats, but as it was it was proportioned like this (forget the raw numbers, 10% is probably near worst-case if we weren’t quarantining).

*10% infection rate
320,000,000
Age count CDC chart .. .. Dead
20s 37.3M *0.1% ... ... 3,500
30s 43.2M *0.2% ... ... 9,000
40s 42.5M *0.4% ... ..17,000
50s 31.1M *1.3% ... .. 40,000
60s 20.3M *3.6% ... .. 73,000
70s 16.3M *8.0% .. ...130,000
80+ 9.2M *14 % .. ....128,000
... ... ... ... ... . 404,000
