A doctor friend of mine is in a meeting today where the hospital is going to stop all elective surgeries AND start cutting salaries of workers and doctors in order to have enough capital to handle influx of pandemic patients...and this is before there are any confirmed cases in the area.
They won’t cut medical worker pay.
Ive heard from many that their bone marrow transplants have been put on hold. Those are not really elective. Theres a small window of opportunity to have one. Blood cancer patients work to get into remission, and need it at that point. If they relapse while waiting - thats a problem. So, Chemo has to continue. Its a serious thing. Definitely not elective.
