MANILA, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the imposition of a community quarantine in the entire Metro Manila as the government scrambles to contain the spread of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.
The recommendation to put the National Capital Region (NCR) under isolation was made by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and was approved by Duterte in a meeting in Malacañang Thursday night.
Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila will be suspended starting March 15, 2020, until April 14.
Ayaw naming gamitin yan kasi takot kayo sabihin niyo lockdown (We dont want to use the term lockdown because it frightens you). But its a lockdown. Theres no struggle of power here, walang giyera. Its a matter of protecting and defending you from COVID-19, Duterte said.
It has nothing to do with the power of the police or the military or my power its just an issue of protecting public interest and public health, he added.
Meanwhile, local government units outside Metro Manila are advised to follow the following guidelines in imposing localized community quarantine in their respective jurisdictions:

Supposed to go to Atlantic City next weekend from Staten island. Reconsidering.
I’d hate to lose money gambling AND die:-)
RE: Supposed to go to Atlantic City next weekend from Staten island. Reconsidering.
Well here’s a question — do you take the subway or the ferry? Plenty of people there.
By this time even in places where there are not outbreaks people are demanding these steps be taken, which is probably a wise thing.
Why wait for trouble?
Temperatures in Manila are in the 90s. So much for “warmer weather will kill this,”
LOL, this is a silver lining of being anti-social.
Would this have hit the Phillippines like Italy?
I think it’s more a prudent pre-caution than anything. Once people see all of these places doing the same thing, there’s a lot of pressure to do the same, whether or not the virus would have had that much impact in that area.
I have actually been working on Staten island after 20 years in the city. I’ve been on Staten island working overnight in an office with about six other people for maybe 7 or 8 years now.
but trust me, if I decide not to go it’s because I decided not to lose the money. I have very little fear of this illness for myself although my mother or older aunts getting it does concern me.
And yet it seems that healthy people of younger ages are dying and Italy.
It could be worse, you could WIN a lot of money then die.
Ouch, another one out to get Trump. /s

What’s the temp in Manilla this time of year.
Asking for a friend...
RE: Whats the temp in Manilla this time of year.
Between 80 to 90 degrees fahrenheit.
How many cases are Chinese?
I wonder if similar steps will be taken soon in other cities in RP? Cebu City and Davao would be the “biggies”.
RE: How many cases are Chinese?
Quite a number I hear. There is a huge Fil-Chi ( Filipino Chinese ) population in Manila.
A Filipino-Chinese Church had two members who are now hospitalized in San Lazaro Hospital due to Covid-19. Both are doing well.
Worship services have been scheduled for the next two Sundays to be ONLINE.
Clearly this quarantine action is fake news!
Everyone knows the virus doesn’t replicate over 85F.

I don’t see much for an outbreak in Cold Russia.
