Do you think the person might go into a coma-like state where they aren’t aware they are suffocating? Or would it be so fast that the person is fully aware that they are suffocating? Supposedly with pneumonia, a person slowly slips into unconsciousness and ‘passes quietly in the night’ without realizing they are suffocating to death- supposedly-
Swell- I’ve seen videos on youtube of people dying from Cystic Fibrosis, and lou gerrig’s disease, and it’s just awful- the slow oxygen starvation panic over and over and over again- must be absolutely frightening - wish there was some meds that could put a person into short term unconsciousness- to ease them through that terrible process-

You should know whether the pneumonia is viral or bacterial for sure BEFORE you take antibiotics. Antibiotics are a double-edged sword, and taking them while fighting a severe viral infection like COVID-19 could be very damaging.
Their lung’s vital capacity gets severely compromised and as they try to ambulate their o2 demand rises but their lungs can’t exchange the co2 for the o2 needed...yes in some cases it could be that quick. Their hearts themselves can go into arrest when the o2 drops extremely low. That is why they can just drop suddenly dead.
If you are bedridden and not moving much, the demand for o2 isn’t so great and assuming not too severe inflammation, the body strikes a balance of sorts but push too early or too strenuously and the effects on you can be severe. For mortal disease states, the body may for a time increase the respiration rates to try to increase o2 demand and the person becomes confused, panicky and then overtime, tires, goes comatose and may pass into the night.
So bedrest, deep coughing and breathing exercises, increase humidity, meds that break up phlegm are important until one starts to get better. The disease seems to have a 3 week course with relapses possible if you get too active, too soon. Also you use what ever other meds the docs order, antibiotics against possible secondary bacterial infections, steroids, fever reducers, fluids. Vitamins might help but megadosing has questionable effects as the body will only take in what it needs and discards the rest. Still, since one’s appetite might not be too great, the vitamins might be a help.
This isn’t a dose your self with cold symptom relievers and work while still sick virus even if it seems your symptoms are mild at first. Perhaps for many the disease stays mild, but they can still get others deathly sick by spreading it. Nope, this one at minimum keeps a person at home and your activities at low levels with coughs sniffles and extreme body aches for at least 3 weeks. At worse, you go to the hospital and get put on a ventilator as you are not breathing well enough to meet your oxygen demands. One hopes one makes it at that point.

I’m seeing articles that you can’t catch CV from a pet. Reading further, they say there is no evidence. But a lack of evidence is nothing.
Show me evidence that you can’t catch it. Who’s exposed themselves to an infected pet? What’s changed about the virus being shed by the pet that prevents human transmission.
So many Coronavirus deniers. My workplace is saying it’s a very mild flu. They think anyone who raises a concern is “panicking”. They are panicked about people being concerned.
High frequency(frequency of “puffs” not sound) oscillating ventilator...we use them from time to time in our ICU. it keeps the sacks open and compensates if the diaphragm is stiff or not working well, which in your wife’s case might have been the issue until the swelling and inflammation from the pancreatitis subsided. If diaphragmatic function is impaired a normal ventilator would have difficulties using it’s “pull release” function to move air as the diapragm would be still or blocked due to abdominal ascites and swelling related to the pancreatitis. So the oscillating vent was used; fortunately for your wife it saved her. I trust she is doing okay today?

Your workplace managers are frightened at the economic implications; the are whistling past the graveyard. For most it might just be a mild event, but sufferers are highly contagious and can get more susceptible to severe illness folks very sick.
China had been shooting and killing stray cats and dogs and were telling folks their pets needed to be killed in Wuhan before they put the clamps on the out going reports. A British sufferer in Wuhan said his pet kitten sickened and died while he was going thru the worst of his illness at home.

Thanks for the explanation- Suffocating is such a horrible way to go- wouldn’t be bad i guess IF a person could be put into unconsciousness- but reading stories about lou gehrig’s victims and what they went through in the last days was horrifying- o2 Starvation is a very panicky state to be in- frightening-
Yeah she recovered. Based on the severity she had a 7% chance of survival, her biggest danger after the lungs was sepsis but that was avoided. Thanks.
It’s a shame he doesn’t mention what the antibiotics were which he refused to take.
CT scans are being used to diagnose Covid-19. The lungs develop a distinctive appearance.

Luckily everything seems to be in my throat and head. The minute I start to feel it in the lungs I’ll call the doctor
Yeah, I know I had childhood asthma and have had a couple bad pneumonias. I’m not looking forward to drowning in my own fluid. As a matter of fact I can’t think of many worse was to go.
