Back in the 70’s I recall the CHP had a magazine that contained photos of crash victims. My dad had a friend who was a LA deputy who brought them over from time to time. Most of the photos were pretty gruesome, I even recall seeing the results of that car that was crushed during the Sylmar quake.

While I worked in a car wash in California in the mid-80’s, the local Highway Patrol were always there in the attached cafe waiting for their cars to be cleaned. I walked in one day and saw a small booklet of car crashes with photos of the victims inside.
