Wow, eight feet... Rivals Old Faithful in volume, doesn’t it? I’ve only ever seen a three foot break, and I was impressed with that. Shouldn’t be surporised, I guess. Houston is a BIG city. Hope nobody drowns or is seriously hurt.

I’ll probably cut out early. Fortunately, I do not live in the area that is flooded.

“when the pipe burst” should read “when the contractor irresponsibly hit the pipe”. The pipe is an inanimate object, no?

"Houston is a BIG city. Hope nobody drowns or is seriously hurt. "

Guess if things get bad enough we'll see a mass population segment return home to New Orleans...

I just don’t think of water mains coming in 8 ft. sizes.

I scraped clean about 8” along one basement wall before applying 2 coats of flex paint to stop a foundation leak. It’s been dry ever since (about a year now). Not bad for a $30 quart can.

Down near under channel and water plant areas such is not uncommon.

The mystery is why the contractor didn’t use a vac truck and “pot hole” to find the existing main.

Not often you get to see an official use that phrase, even truncated like the above.
