Looks like an extra-large drone.
Looks like a big drone!
Imagine a city loaded with these noise makers. The buzzing sound would drive everyone mad by lunch.
Joby has $500 million in backing from Toyota, and some kind of agreement with Uber, but AFAIK, they have no working model, just computer animation.
Actually there’s a prototype. The prototype is in flight test now, don’t know how far along. The picture on this thread is out of date.

Would be nice to know where the hell Marina City is without click bait.
If it’s the one I’m thinking of, then it’s in Monterey County, CA. On the coast West of Salinas. Pretty quiet town I should think.
A young man at the front desk of my gym was telling me about Joby recently. He’s studying power plant and airframe at the local college and would love to work for Joby.
I’m skeptical these “air taxis” are going to really amount to much. There used to be helicopter service inside some big cities from airport to airport (SFO to OAK) and Manhattan to JFK. Maybe they will serve that market.
Ten years ago, we set out to improve daily transportation. Increased congestion, longer commute times, and rising emissions compelled us to pioneer a new class of electric aircraft that quietly soars above gridlockgetting you to where you are going up to five times faster than driving. If you took just 2% of the typical urban commute traffic and put it in air taxis, you'd have a whole lot of crashes in nothing flat.
Hopefully not make with Communist Chinese junk, the the planned Dubai air taxis
