Growing up, my father relentlessly pounded the value of education into us. College was extremely important. Yet, at the same time he also told me that regardless of what job you had in life, if you did your best it was honorable work. He NEVER looked down on anyone based on their type of job.
It’s not just “gray matter”. The Japanese name for farmer is “hayaku sho”, literally 100 names. Meaning a good farmer needs 100 skills.
A modern farmer requires the system knowledge of a mechanic.
But more than that, it’s the diligence to survive a very risky business.
So brains must be supplemented with sufficient balls.
