Newt Gingrich, though with faults, is undoubtedly the greatest Republican of the 1990's, temporarily stopping the first attempt by the Deep State, post-Reagan, to overturn America's founding by the Clinton Administration. The Contract with America propelled the Republicans to the first "shutout" in American political history in which no GOP incumbent in the House, the Senate, or any GOP state governor lost his or her seat.
