Prophetic story line. To bad Sisko was so overplayed by Brooks.

I’ll go one better. In the 2011 movie “Contagion”, an Asian dude making bat soup gives people a super-flu strain.

Does fiction manifest somehow?

Are some sci-fi writers prescient?

Here’s the clip. Bat habitat disturbed. He flies to a pig farm and craps. Pigs eat the crap. Humans eat the pig.

Maybe thousands of people reading stories and being intensely affected by them ‘imagine’ them into becoming actual events.

If so, there’d be a cautionary tale in the fact.

Art imitates Life, and Life imitates Art.

The Eyes of Darkness, a 1981 thriller by bestselling suspense author Dean Koontz, tells of a Chinese military lab that creates a virus as part of its biological weapons programme. The lab is located in Wuhan, which lends the virus its name, Wuhan-400. A chilling literary coincidence or a case of writer as unwitting prophet?

I liked most of his books.

When I read books.

Almost never in years. No interest.

A lot of the ideas written about by science fiction writers eventually come true.

There were two outlandish stories that rattled me. One was about a guy who was going to be executed for having 12 parking tickets. Executed convicts were being harvested for their organs and when the State ran out of criminals, they lowered the death penalty.
A few months later, there was a newspaper article about the Chinese starting to harvest organs from their executed criminals.

The other was about a guy who visited his wife in the hospital and went into detail about how he was trying to kill her. Turned out she was comatose and the docs were keeping her alive so they could use her for parts that needed a "live" donor (skin grafts, etc.)
When my drivers licens was up for renewal, they had a box to check for organ donation.

I quit reading Sci-Fi after that.

The game/movie Resident Evil. The factory that makes the zombie virus has an umbrella shaped logo (viewed from the top) that is white and red.

The Wuhan Bio Lab has a logo that is the EXACT shape and style of it, but is white and blue.

Much of the play in the video is in Raccoon City.

Corona, move the letters around, spells Racoon. (Missing a “c” - but close enough!)

Have read many Koontz books but not this one. He’s a Catholic who writes about Biblical themes subtly without proselytizing, weaving those truths among astute, entertaining observations of modern culture.

There are too many prophetic sci-fi writers to count. Orwell & Burgess in particular are coming true before our eyes.
Plus, who’da thunk we’d actually have elected congresspeople promoting scary-ass crap straight outta Soylent Green?

I remember another story, which I seem to recall having to do with an airplane hijacking/ransom - a young woman wrote a story, and something very like it eerily happened later; but I can’t find it now. I think his would have been in the 1960s or early 1970s...
