Democratic state legislators in the Virginia House of Delegates repealed the “crime of fornication” last week—in the state that has long used the slogan, “Virginia is for lovers” to attract tourists, Fox 40 reports.

Currently, fornication is a Class 4 misdemeanor and carries a fine up to $250.

“It’s a stupid law. It’s crazy,” Democratic delegate Mark Levine, who introduced H.B. 245, said. “No one should think they can be prosecuted for this common practice.” […]

“Now that the Democrats are in power, I’m thrilled to get it off the books,” Levine said. …

“No one should think they can be prosecuted for this common practice.”

Oh, you mean like always carrying my weapon to protect me and my family? I agree 100%

In practice or in statute?
The Virginia Supreme Court struck down the law in 2005 as “unconstitutional government intrusion,” though it remains in the Code of Virginia. The bill now moves to the Senate.
That’s from the article.

Anti-fornication laws?

I grew up in a country that had anti-sodomy laws. 50 states. 50 anti-sodomy laws.

That was a great country. Sodomites ruined it.

Because Lord knows there are no more pressing issues for the Virginia legislature to devote their time to.

Believe you me you don’t want them working on anything of substance. Any time they waste on nonsense is a victory for us.

Only Faux News would consider this news worthy.
They seem to have this fascination with other people’s sex lives.

At the time it was encoded, copulation outside the marriage bond was unlawful to God, and thus to a majority of the legislators of the state. For it to be common and unpunished, the defining down of morality is clearly obvious. For those who wish to obey the God of the Bible and His Son Yeshua The Messiah, it still is a gross sin.

Desperate democrats are trying to ‘change the subject’... this is as silly as spending time on changing laws making it illegal to spit on the sidewalk.

(yes, there are laws on the book like that...)

Sheesh, they should have a budget surplus that projects out 300 years into the future.

The Supreme Court in 2003 struck down anti sodomy laws.

In any places where such laws are still on the books they can’t be enforced.

As a practical matter, these sex behavior laws are very difficult to pursue. If someone is involved in private consenting activities, who is going to report same to law enforcement for legal action to be taken?
