Marx spells it out for them. You have to plan on killing off about 1/3 of the population to make socialism work. It’s the method of doing it, and, who to do it to, that varies from Hitler, Stalin, and the rest.
I believe the radicals (weather underground) of the early 1970s also said they would probably have to kill off 15 million Americans to make communism work in the USA.
