Raised beds (about knee high) deter — but don’t entirely prevent—rabbits & moles.
You can line the bottom & inside the frame with chicken wire to further deter the critters from chewing through.
The best gardening book I’ve found is called The Vegetable Gardener’s Bible by Edward C. Smith. Everything about companion planting, natural pest control, rotation, etc. Promotes the W.O.R.D. method to reduce labor (weeding) while obtaining maximum yields in a smaller area.
