McCoy had retirement written all over him in the later movies so yeah, would he have wanted to become Surgeon General? Maybe he got bored of booze and chicks, somehow.
“Would those 900 million have known what was to happen ? If so, why didnt they attempt to stop it ?”
Why didn’t Superman’s dad stop the same thing from happening?
The position of the Romulan government was “lalalala everything is fine the Sun is NOT gonna blow up”. Nothing for a minority to do but try to flee. They should be fine though, the refugees, all they need is a planet and some replicators, no shortage of either, right?
I have no problem with the concept, not that I would have chosen to base the show on a stupid plot device invented by JJ Abrams in order to create a really crappy villain for an alternate timeline movie franchise. Especially if it’s meant to be a BS Muslim refugees parable. I like the “android ban” plotline even less. It’s lazy.
Vulcan is still there in the “real” timeline, only gone in the “Chris Pine timeline”. Seems Mars is still there but everyone dead and it’s still on fire like a tire yard.
He had nursing home written all over him. Dee Kelley didn't make it to 80, even if he looked older than that in ST:TUC. He should've retired to be with his wife, Natira, after she and her people settled that new world. It should've been Ambassador Spock seeing off Enterprise-D. Huge, huge gaffe.
"Why didnt Supermans dad stop the same thing from happening?"
I think that was the key problem with the entire Superman universe. This was a superior humanoid species and they merely ignored or denied what was going to happen to their planet (which would've been realized by scientific minds years ahead of time) ? It didn't pass the smell test. Of course, mind you, Superman's father couldn't stop the destruction of Krypton, but they could've evacuated it en masse.

That would indicate profound ignorance on the part of the Romulans, and a suicidal streak. This, too, makes no sense. Shows Abrams, Kurtzman and the Gilmore Girls gang have no understanding whatsoever of the Trek universe. It's all utter silliness and just piss-poor writing/storytelling.

Well, all those places are still there in the real timeline, since Piccc-kurd (Q pronunciation) is in the fake one. =shaking head=
