I am not saying (“asking” would be better) that everyone believe her. I am asking you in particular to say why you are confident that he didn’t rape her. If you provide evidence from the record that supports your view that she is a liar, please provide it. (I wouldn’t vote to convict Bryant on the evidence I have in front of me, but I think he did rape her, and to the extent the press coverage has underplayed this it has not done its job. Correct me if I am wrong, but your argument seems to be that “She’s a slut, and sluts lie, so Bryant didn’t rape her.)
In saying this I acknowledge that a criminal trial would require that Bryant be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but we are not engaging in a criminal trial here, and you seem alarmingly adamant that he didn’t do it, for no other reason than because sluts lie.
Do you have any case-specific evidence that he didn’t commit a criminal act, beyond “Well, some other women have lied”?
I am simply requesting that if you don’t believe her account of this episode you give a case-specific reason, taking account of the fact that Bryant admitted she thought it wasn’t consensual and settled a civil case out of court, that given the legal definition of rape, he didn’t rape her.
Oh, and that your reason go beyond “sluts lie.”
You can’t answer why you so believe her.
When a woman is raped, she knows she has been raped. She won’t need her mom to explain to her that she has been raped.
Based on your approach to believing this woman, Brett Kavanaugh is a serial sexual predator.
