Barack Obama called Donald Trump a "fascist" in a phone conversation with Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia during the 2016 presidential election, Kaine says in a video clip featured in an upcoming documentary about Hillary Clinton.
Kaine, Clinton's running mate on the Democratic ticket, recounts the call during an exchange with Clinton that was caught on camera in 2016. Kaine's wife, Anne Holton, was also present.
"President Obama called me last night and said: 'Tim, remember, this is no time to be a purist. You've got to keep a fascist out of the White House,'" Kaine says before adding with a laugh that Obama "knows me and he knows that I could tend to err."
Clinton replies, nodding, "I echo that sentiment."
She then puts her hands to her chest and says, "But that's really — the weight of our responsibility is so huge."

The docuseries, which premieres at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday at a screening Clinton was scheduled to attend, chronicles her early life, rise to national prominence and political career.
NBC News was given access to the series this week. Nanette Burstein, an Oscar-nominated filmmaker who directed "Hillary," confirmed in an email that the clip of Kaine was recorded by a camera team hired by the Clinton campaign.
The date and location of the conversation are not clear.
Obama has rarely publicly attacked Trump since leaving office, and his description of Trump as a fascist — as recalled by Kaine — is a far sharper attack than he offered in public during or after the campaign.

The first sentence of NBC's coverage of her series "chronicling her early life, rise to prominence and political career" just happens to, oh, I don't know, explain Barack Obama (whom she hates) called Donald Trump (whom she, Barack and NBC hates) a fascist in a phone call to Tim Kaine. Well, it is an election year.
Always adhering to the shining standards of MSM journalism, NBC says "The date and location of the conversation are not clear." Further, the clip featuring Kaine's unfounded assertions was filmed by a crew hired by the Hillary Campaign so it meets NBC's standards.
Given this talking point's lofty position at the very top of NBC's promotion of Hillary's 2020 campaign series...oh...wait...I meant to say "docuseries", NBC has determined this unverified, politically motivated talking point is both central to the docuseries about Hillary's early life, and is also most likely to appeal to it's base, her base,....you know what I mean.
So much wrong with NBC's veracity and integrity just in that opening gambit. NBC, once again providing "contributions in kind" to Hillary, while working to support the Deep State/MSM's coordinated campaign to scare the public into believing that Trump is a fascist.
The government spectrum runs from totalitarianism (big government) on the far left to anarchy (no government) on the right. Fascism is right there on the left with communism and other forms of all-powerful government. That said, Trump is most clearly NOT a fascist. Fascists don’t go around cutting rules and regulations.
I do not doubt for one second this conversation took place based on how the Obama Admin acted in 2015 and 2016 .
Anyone who isn’t a full-on Maoist Commie son of a bitch is comparatively a fascist to this disciple of Alinsky.
The Democrat party - including Obama - is INSANE and must be dissolved.
