I guess you are unaware of the capability of an Apple Watch with LTE... it can place and receive calls, record, text, tweet, etc. - all without an iPhone or iPad or even wifi. It can do almost anything an iPhone can, just on a tiny screen.

Actually they kinda are like Dick Tracy watches... You can send and receive email and text messages, and make and receive phone calls. Most require being in proximity with and connected to the iPhone via bluetooth, or else connected to wifi in order to do these things Nope - LTE version can place and receive calls, record, text, email, social media (limited), etc. all without an iPhone or iPad or wifi.
