Maybe, but I think now most (I’d say 40+ senators) know that Trump is their meal ticket. I don’t think they “want him gone” in ANY way where they have dirt on their hands.

They know by now NOTHING will affect Trump’s poll numbers, and that the more he is perceived by the on-the-fence Americans as a “victim” (a term Trump would hate) the more they support him.

You can see this in the now five or six “man on the street” focus groups with swing voters where they ALL think this is a farce. So, no, I don’t think they dare call witnesses lest Biteme’s evil son is called. And Trump’s guys WOULD force that if it comes to that.

95% of Republican voters support Trump.

95%

McConnell is a lot of things, but he is not politically suicidal.

As I’ve said for about 2 months on Twit, I don’t think Yertle has 51 votes to dismiss. I think he has 45-46 to dismiss. Not enough. I think he will get 52-55 votes to acquit. I expect all Rs to vote to acquit except, perhaps, Minion, and I expect both Manchin and Jones to vote to acquit.

I agree with your take on the votes to dismiss. I disagree on the acquittal...I think there will be enough rinos to flip to the dems that there will be around 55 votes to convict...a clear majority but not enough to remove. The GOP wants to sink his reelection so that business in the swamp can return to normal.

I take Laura as a good source and she says it’s not there. I’m trying to find out if people know more and what they think if this is true. That is not click bait or emotive crap.

I still do not trust the GOP senate..but this might be a good omen

A Goldman Sachs client poll finds 87% expect Trump to win the next election

Most of these people are democrats...will they vote for Trump with this stock market and economy?

Yes. Byrd did the honors for Clinton. There was a vote, it failed.

He doesn’t seem to have any fire in the belly. Hoping and suspecting he’ll acquit doesn’t go long on reassuring me. Trump is 100% not guilty of anything.

Best not to take the first vote if it’s likely a loss.

What are you saying? That McConnell will reject the whole witness fraud? That he will call for an immediate vote and win an acquital?

I bet you $100, payable to Free Republic, that he will allow this to drag out for more than two weeks, starting next Tuesday; and will end it all in a call for impeachment, but no conviction.

McConnell is not suicidal, not by a long shot. He would much rather leave the bodies of others strewn behind him.
