Topline: James Murdoch, a son of press baron Rupert, has publicly criticized the familys news outlets for their ongoing denial of the links between climate change and raging bushfires in Australia, where the Murdoch empire originated.
Former media executive James and his wife, Kathryn, who works for the Clinton Foundations climate initiative, have previously been outspoken about climate change. A spokesperson for the couple told the IAC-owned Daily Beast: Kathryn and James views on climate are well established and their frustration with some of the News Corp and Fox coverage of the topic is also well known.
They are particularly disappointed with the ongoing denial among the news outlets in Australia, given obvious evidence to the contrary, the statement continues.
Key background: The Murdoch family have been engaged in reportedly shaky relations for years, with brothers James and Lachlan in competition to succeed their father as overseers of the family empire. James has distanced himself from the company, while Lachlan is officially his fathers heir. The two brothers are reportedly barely on speaking terms. James previously launched a failed bid to overhaul Fox News, which he saw as damaging to the company, amid a sexual harassment scandal in 2016. ....
Tangent: Murdoch is estimated by Forbes to be worth $19.6 billion. Hit HBO drama Succession is thought to be loosely based on the Murdochs.

I got a laugh out of the "speculation" that the HBO series "Succession" is based on the Murdochs. That's who immediately jumped into my mind as the model after I watched the first ten minutes of the first episode.
NewsCorp execs endorsed John Kerry in 2004. Let’s stop pretending that they’ve been a conservative company.
My dad is famous and rich and I can parrot the environmentalist dogma whilst flying my private jet to where my super yacht is presently docked.
I hope the climate changes all over your face, James.
Overgrown spoiled brat. Punk extrodinar.
James Murdoch is a certified joke. The old man has unfinished business if he wishes to preserve his legacy.
85% of the fires down there have been shown to be man made. How does that further the climate change scam??
It’s difficult to deny that the ‘climate’ changes... What isn’t difficult to deny, is cult centered around Al Gore’s meanderings and his exclusive reliance on ‘scientist’ who’s ‘data sets’ are conjured and skewed to arrive at Al’s desired result... An end of the world scenario that scares politicians into taxing people to support nonsensical energy alternatives.
Only God and mother nature can control our weather, not Al Gore and his pseudo scientist. Politicians and others who subscribe to this cult will be the laughing stocks of future generations.
[85% of the fires down there have been shown to be man made. How does that further the climate change scam??]
Shush. You’re not supposed to mention the fact that the police have arrested at least two dozen people for arson.
Or, that an Aboriginal Elder has told Australia that the lack of controlled burn is what leads to the conditions conducive to these huge fires.
Poor Rupert, two Idiot sons incapable of independent, coherent and logical thought
James is a silly person.
Maybe Little Jimmy can provide some proof of climate change.
A word that conflates Holocaust denial with any doubt about climate assertions that are self-proclaimed as scientific. I reject it.
Here's a definition of the scientific method that I found satisfying (from Wikipedia):
"The scientific method is an empirical method of acquiring knowledge that has characterized the development of science since at least the 17th century. It involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed, given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation."
So who is really practicing science here? The "climate deniers", or the "climate scientists"?
He can afford to be.
Incendiaries (to use an older word for arsonists) should be shot, if not burned at the stake.
And forest management practices should be a top priority in drought-prone areas worldwide. The greenies think that harming any tree, even a dead one, is wrong. Also, they think (with some justification) that if you make cleaning up the deadwood possible by increasing accessibility, that some logging of live trees will occur. The horror.
Anyone who’s had a look at the board and upper managementioned of the new company will not be surprised by this.
Some investigative biz journo/author should take a good look at what happened to News Corp and why.
Good point, worth repeating.
The left has taken disingenuous use of language to a high art form.
This buffoon does not deserve to have the keys to the kingdom handed over to him.
I guess rich people are easily duped. Remember Steve Martin in “The Jerk” . . . I need money for new upholstery in my jet. I’m embarrassed for my friends to ride in it. . . .
