Let’s be honest, Soleimani wasn’t killed on a battlefield too. It was more an assassination than anything else.

Neither was OBL, so what’s your point?

Is a safehouse “battlefield” or is a drone strike there an assassination as well?

Iraq is a battlefield, and Soleimani had just left the Embassy where he was directing protests and attacks against US properties and people.

Soleimani was not killed in Iran sitting at his home, enjoying his family and being a budding rap start.

soleimani is still very dead. I doubt very many civilized citizens care how he met his timely demise.

Soleimani was operating as a terrorist leader in a hostile country. Whether that was “on a battlefield” is a pedantic discussion about the extent of a definition.

Not like Soleimani was on vacation in Russia, or at home/office in Iran.

I believe his name was written on the Green area wall...as “Our Leader”.

To be “honest” generals seldom are on the BF unless they are in dire straights, or doing photo ops.

To be precise, he was killed on a battlefield. Iraq is still listed as a combat zone by DoS. The entire country.

You might want to read up on a bit of history here:

How America Killed the Japanese Admiral Who Masterminded the Pearl Harbor Attack

https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/killing-yamamoto-how-america-killed-japanese-admiral-who-masterminded-pearl-harbor-attack

It's essentially the same as killing Suleimani. Are you going to send you deepest regrets and condolences to the family of Yamamoto too?

Why is it OK to kill conscripts but not masterminds like Soleimani? Let’s fight like we’re at war.

Killing a thousand young innocent Iranians who have ZERO power over the thugs who run Iran - - young people who DO NOT benefit in the least from Mullah wealth - makes no sense.

Hit the people who make the decisions... that’s Soleimni and his fellow thugs. Kill the decision makers next and destroy their playgrounds. Cultural and ‘other’...

Heinrich Himmler, Adolf Eichmann, and other top Nazis were acceptable targets in World War II because we were fighting to win. It’s time to STOP warring by Marquess of Queensberry Rules when the thugs of the world are kicking us in the head and below the belt.

You say ‘UN’? Rules written by thugs...

Kind of like Bin Laden, Admiral Yamamoto, and a couple of thousand terrorists and their unlucky companions killed by drone strikes ordered by President Obama.

Au contraire - he was killed on the same battlefield where the attack on our embassy was committed....if one really wants to be honest, wherever an act of war, and attacking our sovereign embassy was such, occurs, becomes a battlefield....unless you think we should have waited for him to walk onto embassy grounds to attack him.
Terrorism is, in and of itself, an act of war and Iran has made the globe a battlefield wherever their terror leaders/cells exist.

Of course it was. We occasionally eliminate terrorist enemies of the state in this manner.

How would you prefer it get done?
