I’ve done 800 (Interstate) miles on a full tank twice in my diesel...which I bought last year.

“At this point in time, Mazda is right about EVs. “

Mazda says EV’s have the advantage!

Battery prices, which were above $1,100 per kilowatt-hour in 2010, have fallen 87% in real terms to $156/kWh in 2019. By 2023, average prices will be close to $100/kWh, according to the latest forecast from research company BloombergNEF https://about.bnef.com/blog/battery-pack-prices-fall-as-market-ramps-up-with-market-average-at-156-kwh-in-2019/

AT $100/kWh puts them on par with ICE.

Get used to it.

Not really - these EVs require massive expenditures of energy and horrid pollution and environmental cost just to PRODUCE the VEHICLES themselves. From the minding of raw materials for the batteries to the energy and pollution cost to actual production - they are horrific.

And never mind the slave labor used in the mining of several of the materials used...

The EV push is nothing but a feel-good power grab.

They didnt go 0-60 in 3 seconds!

No smog/emissions garbage choking the engine’s performance either - and relatively simple mechanics to repair.

Can you even get ANY diesel powered Mazda at all here in the US?

The goofy bastards at VW put a stake in the heart of the diesel engine.
Unlikely to return soon.

Oh, they’re not really waiting for a charge. That’s a meeting of the Tesla Owner’s Club, and they are congratulating each other for doing so much to save the planet from the impending climate disaster. /s

My point was: the ONLY way it makes sense is to use non-CO2 emitting electric power to recharge the batteries.

Even then, that is only if one thinks that CO2 is ‘bad’.

As far as I’m concerned, my coffee trees will appreciate ALL the CO2 you care to send them

Coffee - the Great Bean of Glory! YES!

CO2 is “bad” only if it actually affected the earth like the Ecco-Nazis claim. Alas - it would be quite difficult for humans to produce enough CO2 to dramatically damage the planet. I guess if we sprayed the globe with Roundup and then Agent Orange, wiping out nearly all plant life... then CO2 would rapidly be a problem...

Let’s remember - as part of the CAFE standards for fuel efficiency... makers can count EV vehicles massively towards offsetting other vehicles (like the huge and growing fleets of SUVs, crossovers, and the never-ending trucks that will likely NEVER meet those standards on their own merits.

Think about your cell phone battery - through its lifespan, its capacity diminishes with use. To exacerbate the problem, some usage and charging patterns actually make it deteriorate far faster.

Even the best batteries for cell phones - last at most, 2 years before seeing a significantly diminished performance. What is the current life expectancy for an EV’s batteries (when used as daily drivers with lots of use)?

Greens have always hated diesel.

VW gave them the means and method to finish it off.

The Oldsmodiesel severely damaged diesel reputation, but still, it came back.

Lots of interesting new diesel technology, but not to be.

They also have another 'swell' feature - ruptured batteries that burn for days after an accident compromises them.

Richard Hammond can speak volumes about this.

Formula E is looking for fans.

Listening to something that sounds like an electric razor as cars are swapped over less than an hour's time is surely going to attract standing room only crowds.

Collecting all humans and housing them in “Cabrini Greens” style units. Only the super wealthy will be allowed homes, and most of the land will be a park that is off limits to all but the super wealthy. Of course this is after eliminating Billions of people. It is a plan, not a conspiracy.
