I agree it is a solid movie. Excellent work by Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Ed Harris. Very touching at the end when they show a clip of the real “Radio.” Very sad to hear of his passing.

His name and story are new to me. He sounds like he was a well loved person, embraced by his community.
I haven’t heard him speak, but his appearance and manner tell me he may have been high functioning autistic.

He spread joy and team spirit throughout his life.
I hope I have such an epitaph.

He was retarded but otherwise normal. I think that is what the movie said.

When I was a counselor at Camp Providence in Anderson, South Carolina in 1986, Radio would come out when we brought kids from East side. It was funny, you could have a good conversation with him one minute, then he'd just fade into something else.

He was always a Junior at T.L. Hanna High School, because if he ever became a Senior, he'd have to graduate. They'd let him run track for T.L. Hanna Junior Varsity.

Both of my sons graduated from T.L.Hanna. Radio was always a part of the daily routine around the school.
