“Peloton’s biggest single-day loss since October “

IOW, not at all unprecedented, even in the recent past. Looking at the 1 year chart, the pull-back looks like a buy opportunity.

I didn’t see anything wrong with the ad.

However, after watching it I did tell my husband not to get me exercise equipment for Christmas unless I specifically ask for it.

It would have been more effective if she’d been a chunky chick when he got her the bike and the ad showed her slimming down over time, or hiking, or running marathons...

So if she spends more time on the Peloton she has less time to make sammiches? Is that what everyone is upset about?

It didn’t bother me but I would like jewelry instead of a stationary bike....it’s like receiving a pressure cooker for a gift.....

[[Viewers trashed the ad on Twitter, calling it sexist, misogynistic, humiliating and cringeworthy. ]]

Guess these leftie cretins don’t like women become physically fit, and possibly extending their life? and they call pelaton misogynists?

Those offended by the add, wouldn’t use the product anyway.

FFS! HotAir had an entire article about this ad. Reminded me why I stopped going to the site as frequently as I once did. I feel dumber for having read it. Hopefully, God has mercy on my soul.

Or have her “wife” give her the bike.

I didn’t see anything wrong with that ad.

To me the weirdness is in the way the wife seems to be almost fearful as she records the videos and when she shows the video to her husband, like she's afraid he's going to slap her. Even if it is a bad ad, so what? I see a lot of bad ads. Still, I'm a little surprised someone didn't catch the weird fearfulness of the wife. Could be she's just a bad actress.

This ad had been floating around for at least a week or more. I notice the stock plunge and fake outrage didn’t happen until our betters in the blue check world decided “we” should be offended/outraged.

Not the young lady’s admirable desire to keep fit and understandable desire to continue looking great. It was her interaction with her hubby that I found skeevy.

BTW, when it comes to advertising, intentions matter way less than perceptions. Something Peleton and their screwy ad agency just learned the hard way.

Except then the “outrage” would have been about body shaming or some such contrived nonsense.

re. Should have given her an ironing board cover.

LOL. I bet the people complaining about this ad would go ballistic if they ever heard some of Walter Williams' old stories about the gifts he gave his wife for Christmas. Those were hilarious.

What is the deal with Peloton anyhow? I ride a bike. A lot. Riding a bike means riding out of my garage and going wherever I want, for as long as I want, constrained mainly by staying off busy highways. I understand that many people, especially suburbanites, live in areas that aren’t conducive to cycling. But why pay big bucks for a stationary bike and a monthly subscription fee? What is Peloton really selling? It’s not exercise; you can get that for free, after the initial price of your basic bike. Is it the gym experience brought into your home for millennials who think that exercise doesn’t count unless it’s done in a class?

I’m with you. I didn’t find it creepy, or weird, or even unusual about the Peloton ad. I see it as a loving husband doing something nice for his wife, and contrary to MOST exercise equipment gifts we’ve all been given (my stationary bike is a clothes rack) this woman is actually using hers and is happy as hell her husband gave it to her. The gist is that Peloton is more than a piece of equipment, it’s a lifestyle.

I would never invest in one, because they are so danged expensive, but I do ride bikes so I can relate to the idea of getting fit without looking out of shape before I started riding. I see nothing sexist with having the woman appear in shape on day 1. I hope peloton sticks to their guns on this ad.

I think there are going to be a lot of parodies based on this ad, though. :)

That’s why I say the ad was targeted at men, because she was totally submissive and also pretty, and so men think if they buy their pretty wives a peloton bike then they’ll be submissive, too.

It’s a fantasy of how a woman would receive an exercise bike. It’s marketing to men.

I think a lot of women would be more like, “are you saying I’m fat?”
