Twenty years ago, Jefferson and Sally Hemings’ decendants who had “passed” being white were on her show. She told the whites in the audience to stand up and apologize for slavery. You won’t find the full episode anywhere but I saw it at the time. I had dumped her long before but turned in for the history which, of course, there wasn’t much.
What a nerve! My French-Canadian ancestors came to New England at the turn of the 20th century to work in the textile mills. They had nothing to do with slavery. That said, I wouldn’t have been in her audience anyway...
