So unfortunately the tragedy of their murders stopped hemophilia in their line.


When I told my jr high history students about Alexei’s hemophilia and the Russian Royal family’s efforts to keep the lad alive, the kids would ask how he died. I tell them that he ended up bleeding to death after all—after being shot with his parents and sisters by the communists.

Some of his sisters apparently survived the first fusillade. They had hidden their jewelry in the seams of their clothing, perhaps the most expensive bullet-proof clothing ever devised. Of course their murderers shot them all again in their heads.

Two of my aunts married their first cousins. They had to get a dispensation from the pope to do so.

It was explained to me as being a result of not really having a social life like Americans had eventually but seeing only family really.

I never saw any unpleasant results. One couple had no children and one couple had three.

Inbreeding usually take time to show up, a few generations, as pro-lifers will tell anyone who wants to abort a baby because it was conceived in incest.
