Sounds too good to be true Not really. They decided to go after the truck niche. A big trucking company could have on site pumps for the hydrogen, and will fill the tank just before usage so leakage isn't an issue. Maintenance is regular. Should be good for 300 mile hauls (600 round trip). It is an important niche, but still a niche. Nikola won't be selling consumer passenger cars any time soon.

[[Nikola’s battery electric trucks could now drive 800 miles fully loaded between charges]]

When time is money- how does this translate to good trucking sense if they have to have hours of downtime waiting for it to charge?

No comment of safety? Is it more likely to explode, catch on fire or go exothermic or less likely than Li ion?

I drove to DeFuniak Springs this morning. I passed by the Tesla charging station and noticed 4 cars being charged.

That is the most I have ever seen at one time. Maybe there is a future for battery cars.

2,000 cycles is three years of use, give or take a few months.

Nikola's hydrogen-electric fuel cell trucks could surpass 1,000 miles between stops and top off in 15 minutes

Wow. They hired a lot of PhDs and STILL managed to come up with a good product.

Someday, we will be able to power an entire home on a battery the size of a dime for a month at a time (that will be able to re-charge in less than 10 seconds).

Good times are coming!

There is a reason they make sleeping quarters in the cabs.

“This month, Nikola entered into a letter of intent to acquire a world-class battery engineering team to help bring the new battery to pre-production. Through this acquisition, Nikola will add 15 PhDs and five master’s degree team members. Due to confidentiality and security reasons, additional details of the acquisition will not be disclosed until Nikola World 2020.”

The emphasis of “PhDs and master’s degree(s)” is a bit troubling. Nothing is said of actual substance that these 20 people have to bring to the table, including the ability to convince potential stockholders to invest their capital with a convincing, profit-making portfolio. It sounds more likely they are trying to convince government oppressors to fleece their civilians of trillions of dollars instead of advancing a technology that is always better when done in the private sector.

For that, I call BS on this, and put this in the same category as “If you like your doctor or health plan, you can keep them” lies.
