By now the diamonds are fenced, the gold is melted and the treasures are gone...................
I’ll give them a hint. Search for anyone wearing a turban, or anyone who speaks Aramaic.
It would be an act worthy of a movie IF the Green Vault heist was committed by accomplices to obtain a bargaining piece to free the Bode Museum burglars that are now of trial.
However, the usual problem with stealing such pieces is disposal. They are too well known intact. So unless they were stolen on commission, there is a strong possibility the pieces would be broken up and sold piece meal. Better part of 1000 small diamonds involved. Even worse, the big diamonds might be recut into smaller sizes to make them easier to fence.
It will be a real shame if this happens.
Priceless treasure left unguarded.
Curious.
This heist is almost as bad as the one the other day.
A bunch of guys ripped off the Louvre, as you may have heard.
And then... Their GETAWAY TRUCK ran out of PETROL!
Priceless paintings were stolen...
Impressionists, etc...
The judge couldn’t believe it.
“How, after pulling off such an amazing heist could you be so foolish as to neglect to fill up the tank on the getaway truck?”
The lead guy just looked at her sheepishly...
...And in his thick provincial accent:
“We did not have the Monet to get Degas to make the Van Go...”
“220-pound solid gold coin worth an estimated $4.3 million” ???
bkmk
I guess I must watch too many movies, but shouldn’t there be all sorts of high tech battery operated gizmos protecting stuff like this?
If so, then it definitely had help from the “inside”.
