Covington is a great fighter, no doubt. Small for a welterweight but phenomenal wrestling, cardio and pretty good striking, not great, but when you throw 540 strikes in a fight where you are only standing and striking for 7 or 8 min, there is a giant volume of mediocre.
He was quiet and respectful but just another NCAA grappler, nobody knew who he was. S on his last few fights he has made a point to piss off everyone, often in hysterical ways. He tweeted out the plot and ending of the latest star wars movie on opening day “just to make tha bunch of virgin nerds cry” His MAGA thing is the same. He probably does love Trump. But the over the top stuff is actually to get people to hate him.
People will pay for a ticket to watch you lose an MMA fight just as quick as they will pay to watch the other guy win.
HE is hilarious....his next opponent is named Usman and he is running around calling him Fake Nusman
That said his opponent moved here when he was 8. Lived in Ametica his whole adult life, got a scholarship to an American University and became a great wrestler. Gets the title and he is the first African Champ!! Nickname is the “Nigerian Nightmare”. He kinda seems like an American to me. Ashamed?
