The wealthy people in the Roman Empire ate Hummingbird tongues-and in Medieval Europe the nobility served roasted peacocks and other birds with all their feathers stuck back on, as well as fois gras...

But I agree with you-with all the ingenuity in the food industry, I would think there would be a cruelty-free way to produce pate fois gras, since there is a market for it-and veal-that is cruelty-free-I don’t eat either veal or fois gras-they are too expensive for my budget anyway-I do like the bargain faux substitute for fois gras made with chicken livers.

I only eat eggs and meat from free-range chickens and beef from grass fed non-feedlot cattle-but that is just my personal preference-and I live where natural organic food is readily available at the local market-meat from caged/penned animals just doesn’t have as much good, natural flavor as free-ranged/grass fed-and I don’t want to eat the residual hormones and antibiotics in the meat from caged/penned animals, either-are the geese that are fed out for fois gras given hormones and antibiotics?...

That sounds great and I have some chicken livers I got from my neighbor in the freezer-do you have a specific recipe?

Not really a response. If you are going to be outraged at Foie gras..don’t you have the same outrage over the slaughter of Kosher and Halal meat?

So true. I also only eat pastured eggs and grass fed beef etc. this food becomes us. It should be from the healthiest animals.

I will look for a recipe to do a fake fois gras with chicken livers. I hate liver but I do love fois gras the Japanese way.

What’s not illegal in New York City?

How about a mayor having police drive his kids to Yale? Is that illegal?

Grass-finished beef has much more healthy Omega-3s than Feed fed beef, which is much higher in Omega-6s, which are inflammatory.

Saying “being an informed consumer” is “outrage”?

That is something too many people don’t even think about-what has the cow your steak came from been eating-if it was a feedlot cow being fed mostly GMO-filled corn and grain grown for that purpose, the steak should have a Monsanto label on it...

You clearly have a problem with the practice but you still aren’t answering the question. do you have a problem with butchering of Kosher meat?

You clearly are looking for an argument. The topic was foie gras, not kosher slaughter. Start a kosher slaughter thread and I’ll comment. As I said, you can eat cats for all I care, it’s just that a lot of people don’t understand the production process of foie gras and I was simply stating, be an informed consumer.

I am not looking for an argument. I want to know why Foie gras is a problem for you if Kosher slaughter for Jewish people is not a problem for you. why is one worse than the other?

Where did I say one was worse than the other?

Look, I’m not going to argue with you. I’ll give you the last word since I know if you don’t get it, you’ll be constipated for a week.
