The Marion County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at around 4 p.m. on Saturday reporting that a woman, 56, had been seriously injured in an explosion in rural Knoxville, Iowa, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. The woman, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead on the scene.
An investigation concluded that a genderreveal announcement created an explosion, from which a flying piece of debris struck the woman.

Just looked it up...It’s when everyone finds out that their pregnant friend is having a boy or girl....about mid term.
Yeah, it reads weird to me, too. Must have been an envelope with confetti or other party junk that “went off” (as intended, I imagine) when opened up and something in the envelope (or package) struck and killed her.
Within the last year or so, one women was killed when her espresso maker blew up and a piece of metal hit her head. Another man was killed when his e-cigarette/vaping device blew up and the mouth piece broke off and cut his jugular.
