Kidron, Ohio - go to Lehman’s Hardware store - they have tools you will not find anywhere else. They sell stuff made by local Amish.

Look up the attractions in Holmes and Wayne Count Ohio. Not too far south of I-76 if you’re traveling west to east. It’s very beautiful there.

Make sure when you are gawking at them you keep the car idling. Some of those carriages can move pretty fast if they try to chase you.

Wife and I visited Gettysburg one summer, then headed toward Amish country on the back roads...We took turns calling left, right, or straight at crossroads...We saw wonderful country and ended up in Delaware...Great trip...

It may be a little north of your path, but Shipshewana IN, about 35 miles east of South Bend, is a big Amish Center, complete with Amish grocery stores and restaurants, and a lot of buggies on the highways.

Here’s what Wiki says:

Shipshewana is a town in Newbury Township, LaGrange County, Indiana, United States. The population was 658 at the 2010 census. It is the location of the Menno-Hof Amish & Mennonite Museum, which showcases the history of the Amish and Mennonite peoples. Wikipedia

Is this so you can gawk at them or something?

What’s with the infatuation of interfering and annoying people of different religions?

I’m in Omaha and you don’t see me visiting and annoying those quaint primitive indians on the reservation.

What am I missing here as a patriotic Kirk conservative American?

Any other grown-ups out there?

Millersburg Ohio. Still remember being in line at Burger King behind a horse and buggy. The Walmart had hitching posts, watering troughs and shade for the horses. The local hospital has similar parking arrangements for the buggies.

The Amana Colonies in Iowa were founded by German Pietists, but along the same line. Just a little out of your way ;-)

Do a Google search on Amish Yates County NY. About 40 years ago, Amish farmers seeking land migrated from Lancaster Co., PA northward to Yates County. More came, families grew, and there is now a sizable population of Amish in the southern Finger Lakes, between
Cananandaigua and Seneca Lakes, and around Keuka Lake. There is an established Mennonite Community, too. From this region, it is a relatively short and beautiful trip to NYC.
