This week, The Outer Worlds was released. Obsidian's sci-fi role-playing game may not push the genre forward in any radical way, but it is an excellent example of what's possible when player choice is promoted above all else. I'm busy playing through The Outer Worlds for the third time in about as many weeks, and I'm still finding new ways to complete quests and build my character. It's a fantastic RPG.
Again, The Outer Worlds released this week. You know what else released this week? Fallout 1st. A subscription service for Fallout 76 that'll set you back $100 a year. A subscription service for Fallout 76 (incredibly generous Metascore of 53). I could write that down a thousand times and it still wouldn't make any sense. I don't know how we ended up in this nightmare of a timeline, but as a die-hard Fallout fan, watching this embarrassing, blatant attempt at trying to squeeze an additional fee out of the people who somehow still enjoy Fallout 76 makes me want to throw up.
Speaking of sick, how sick is that Ranger Armour that you get for subscribing to Fallout 1st? That iconic design from the beloved Fallout: New Vegas. Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas. You just couldn't make it up. This is what Fallout is now. The butt of all jokes and somehow a test subject for some of the most baffling business decisions of this console generation.

Get ready to be flamed for posting about a game. That said, I am a huge fan of the Fallout franchise. The latest money garb is a joke. I picked up a used copy of F76 for $13.00 and I have to say it’s as not as bad as I heard. I’d say 53 is about right. There is no coherent story and the absence of NPC’s just make for an empty open world world game. If it was the only Fallout game I don’t think we would be as hard on it. But the lack of conversational storyline affecting interactions with NPC”s really takes away from the game. They have promised to remedy that with the “wastelanders” DLC which is supposed to be free. We shall see .
“Get ready to be flamed for posting about a game.”
Don’t worry about it. They still post about the NFL here as well.
I was looking at this sci-fi RPG but I prefer first person shooters like ‘The Hunter. Call if the Wild.’lol. Great environment they created for hunting various wildlife from lions to bison.
Occasionally I like a good shooter (G of W, The Division, Destiny) but it takes a decent story line with good characters to keep my interest going in a game. You tried Fallout 3?
“We got a chupacabra with an automatic weapon. And that’s when they get real quiet, ‘cause now they see the predicament we’re in.”
bttt
I pretend there were only two.
Just like I do with Star War movies.
I thought that came reminded me of fallout.
I’m not into RPGs anymore. I need short bursts of action. Borderlands 3 is a great game. A bit buggy but great gunplay.
BTW: My son won the first collegiate esports championship playing overwatch :-) Just a little brag.
Did you play borderlands 3?
I’m loving it. It is buggy (frame rate). But it’s a great game—gunplay is amazing.
Yeah I can see that. F4 was a bit tedious and ultimately made you choose sides with ambiguous reasoning.
Borderlands 2 is a riot, just love it. Looking forward to 3 once it’s debugged.

No never did the Fallout series. I finished Skyrim V quite a while ago. Put a number of hours in Empyrion/Galactic Survival. Another quasi RPG I like is Outlaws of the Old West.
I mostly spend time on building games like Transport Fever.
Nope never played it. The games I usually spend a lot of time in are building games like noted above Transport Fever or something like Planet Coaster.
From there I jumped backwards to Fallout 3 and again found it very engrossing and enjoyable.
I've done 108 videos on it, covering the main questlines.
One of these days I'd like to return and travel the Wasteland again picking up the quests I may have missed along the way.
I have FO4 but have only scratched the surface of it, other things have caught my attention. At some point, I'll return to it.
So many games, so little time.
Anyone taking advantage of the Epic Games weekly free give-away of 2 games?
A lot of them don’t fit my taste, but there have been some that are good enough, particularly at that price.
Recently downloaded and am playing Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.
“Inside” was another free game from Epic that I’ve been playing (and recording)
The Batman Arkham Trilogy was given away free a few weeks ago... haven’t got into it, but appears to have potential
This week, Layers of Fear is available for free. It came out in 2016 and has some good reviews
Coming up this Friday, SOMA is available.
I’ve got The Pre-Sequel and BL2 in my library, but have only scratched the surface of them. Definitely in my queue though.
