This not only explains the large-scale extinction, it’s probably the source of the Great Flood myths around the world.

Yes, the rapid melting of the northern ice sheet and the subsequent 400 foot rise in sea level, are essential parts of the Younger Dryas impact theory.

...how did these animals survive the ice age, only to become extinct after just a short period of warming?

The impacts were global, and set the whole world on fire. Nearly every animal over a hundred pounds perished from the fire, the smoke, or the subsequent famine.

Only the mega fauna in Africa and the Orient survived it.

I suppose they are trying to mutter something about an extraterrestrial object striking terrestrially. Perhaps they actually think there could be a terrestrial object involved with that extinction.

I thought we concluded these findings many decades ago.

Kozak is right, a myth is not NECESSARILY untrue even though most people seem to think so. Joseph Campbell explained it all in his book The Power of Myth.

Robert Ballard found evidence of the Great Flood almost 20 years ago:

There is a cave in Florida, now under water that they have found ashes of a campfire and burnt bones from animals of the time.....................

Several in Central America, too, IIRC.

Did you even see my initial response?

I stated that it was STUPID, not incorrect.

It doesn’t take much to darken the skies. In 1991 gulf war, the oil well fires blocked the sun quite well. I saw it. So Ehat you say about volcanoes is plausible.
