The Florida State Seminoles expect to be among college footballs elite, and the fact that theyre not may cost Willie Taggart his job.
According to Zach Barnett of Football Scoop, Florida State has begun discussing Taggarts future with donors. If the Seminoles limp to the finish line, it is believed that the school could move on from Taggart instead of giving him more opportunity to turn things around, despite the fact that he has a $17 million buyout.
If Florida State were to part ways with Taggart, they would reportedly make Urban Meyer their top target. Meyer coached Florida and had great success there, so he has ties to the area. There is no guarantee that its a job Meyer would want, however. The Seminoles will be an extensive rebuilding effort, and its not clear whether Meyer would be on board with taking on that responsibility at this stage of his career especially when he could have his pick of jobs elsewhere.

It’s a perfect fit for Meyer. He likes Florida coeds...
F- Meyer. Gators fans still haven’t forgiven him for faking a heart condition, then coming back and coaching poorly to get us to let him go, only to end up at Ohio State winning for them. He also just got done trying to stab the Cowboys coach in the back, trying to steal his job. If he now coaches at our rival FSU, I will be in the stands with signs asking if he still lets his coaches beat their wives!
They’ll just raise tuition to cover it.
I was watching the Clemson game last week. The announcers made a comment during one of their discussions.
It sure sounded like they said that FSU had a better recruiting class than Clemson, 5 of the last 6 years.
The thing about the buyout, the full 17 million doesn’t have to be paid at one time, it can be paid out over the life of the contract....
Florida is still paying Jim Mcelwain and might still be paying Muschamp...
Most of the Assistants at FSU would have to be paid off as well, that would be several million
But the issue of really paying big time for a new coach is where it might get tough...
IMO, they have no chance to get Urban Meyer, but the next coach is going to want 5 million and a bunch of other money for assistants....
Oregon sends our condolences for stealing our coach while he lied about being on a recruiting trip.
Dumb if they do this, for many reasons.
We can start by blaming Texas A & M for stealing Jimbo.
Then we can then blame headhunters who admittedly looked for the best POC coach.
It has been all FUBAR since Bowden retired. Heavy sigh.
FSU has a fundraising machine for its football program and can raise that and more if needed.

Jumbo Fisher hasn’t done much for Texas A&M either. So, maybe the Criminoles should pursue Kevin Sumlin.
Incidentally, the beat reporter for the Astros is Brian McTaggart and he claims to get hate tweets from FSU fans during football season.
I can’t think of a single prediction that Football Scoop ever made that came to fruition.
Meyer may be a good college coach, but the guy is a worm.
That may be true, but he’s not gonna leave Ohio State. It’s his dream job....................
I don’t think so. Meyer is well-paid by FOX Sports and given his known health issues, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns down the job.
Oregon’s new coach is a significant upgrade.
But what about Urban’s “heart condition”?
Urban will be coaching in South Bend, next.
