Sadly, she believed the lies being put out about the “scary and dangerous global warming”

When people get into that frame of mind, it is indeed best not to try to educate them, because it is futile and you just upset yourself.

You did the right thing by letting it go.

My wife and I met a nice older Irish couple in a packed restaurant in a large East Coast city. They had extra seats at their table and we asked if we could join them. They obliged.

We introduced ourselves and within a couple minutes, the wife must have believed we were just like them, because she nicely stated, “I can’t believe how many people here like your president, because everyone in the rest of the world can’t stand him.”

I calmly asked what it was that made that so, and that launched what became a two hour discussion.

She said that everything Trump said was a lie. I asked her for one example so I could speak to her about that. She was gobsmacked and could come up with none.

She said we are near the end for our planet, due to global warming and the seas rising, tremendously so. I asked her how many inched or feet of Ireland was lost to the rise in the oceans in the last 30-40 years. She again, was gobsmacked with no answer.

She brought up the IPCC report, and I said I know about it and the Al Gore was a co-winner with his movie, “Earth in the Balance.” I said that all things that were to have happened by 2020 haven’t happened and weren’t showing progress toward occurring. I said that it said multiple areas of New York were to be under water by 2015 and they are still proudly dry. In sum, I told her all the 2,000 “climate scientists” she said had the truth were disproven charlatans and could not be believed for any future lies they told, either. Her head again went into her hands, shaking.

She later changed the discussion to the plight of the Palestinians and how Israel took their land. I told her Palestine never existed as a country that Israel only kept land that they conquered after being attacked by those same persons. She was speechless.

She said the Trump dossier showed Trump to be a terrible man. I said the entire dossier was fabricated by a former MI agent and was discredited by the independent inquiry. I added the most salacious part was the most obviously fake account of the Golden Showers episode. They both said they hadn’t heard about it. So I told them and she was disgusted and the husband was uncomfortably laughing.

Throughout this time, her husband was smiling and amicable, while she often hid her head, shaking it, in her hands.

When the husband said that the best US president we’d had in recent years was Clinton, my wife jumped in and said without a doubt, he raped those Democrat women and did a lot of other bad things. He admitted that was terrible.

They later brought up that they hoped the US tariff direction would go away, because Ireland really relies on US and other local companies making things for the US in Ireland. They also said that they were happy with the corporate accounting tricks Ireland helped with that brought some US tax dollars to their country (albeit minimal). They said the US should be glad to have Ireland stay in the EU, because Ireland would be the only English speaking country in it and could help the US negotiate with EU policies. (Of course, that means nothing, but I nodded and said I appreciated that insight.)

We ended thanking each other for the time and hoping the best for each other’s travels. It was a nice way to wrap it up. There were no coarse words spoken from any side.

Think about the social circle she lives in, and her desire to maintain those relationships and that explains the cognitive dissonance. Walking away allowed her to keep it in check...for now. But for how long?

Yep. Democrats are aggressive.

If they’re not screaming in your face, they’re talking behind your back.

That's why I avoid them at all costs.

Life is too short to deal with liberal maniacs on a regular basis.

Offer to pay her $10,000 for an option to buy her house in X years (X being the number of years she thinks oceanfront homes will be under water. If she is right about global warming, it will be $10,000 wasted by you, and money she can use to move inland. Of course, what will happen is you or your heirs will own a nice house in the future.

said, "She later changed the discussion"

that is the key on how there mind processes information.
it's a form of schizophrenia.
1. Superficial understanding of many issues creates anxiety.
2. Anxiety create unfocused thoughts.
3. unfocused thoughts creates superficial understanding of issues.
4. repeat

To be clear Anxiety is caused by Adrenalin mixed in oxygenated blood creating Adrenochrome. Adrenochrome in the brain creates anxiety. Adrenalin can be regulated with Niacin.

The cure for liberal schizophrenia could be very high doses of Niacin.

I missed a couple steps on the cause of liberal schizophrenia:

1. Superficial understanding of many issues creates fear.
2. Fear creates Adrenalin release.
3. Adrenalin release creates Adrenochrome.
4. Adrenochrome creates Anxiety
5. Anxiety create unfocused thoughts.
3. unfocused thoughts creates superficial understanding of issues.
4. repeat

I think it is worse than that, being a form of what George Orwell called doublethink, the ability of a Communist to know the truth while also believing the Party’s false account. Even after the fall of Communism, doublethink remained as an ingrained reflex of the Leftist mind, too useful to jettison.

People need problems to solve for the future. Everyone craves a purpose that will help their kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren....

The left corrupted that natural instinct to get rich and exert total control long term. Man made global warming. What a great scam. Oppose it and you hate the future. Weather creates the uncertainty of the data. Socialism is similar but hiding behind fairness of outcomes rather than fairness of opportunities.

Poor old woman. Her instincts for providing a legacy for the future needs to be focused on ensuring this country maintains or even expands our God given rights of liberty.

I think I’m going to start telling lefties that I’ve invented a force field that creates a contained controlled climate around my property. Now that I’ve invented it I no longer care what they do to the environment.

It is my mission to drive them around the bend and I take my work seriously!

The strutting pigeon knocking down the pieces on the chess board image comes to mind about this snooty CT liberal.
