When Lindsey Graham, Donald Trumps best pal in the Senate, is calling in to Fox & Friends to say that his Syrian withdrawal is shortsighted and irresponsible, the president has a problem.
Graham, who went from Trumps bitter campaign to golfing buddy, ripped the impulsive decision for having undone all the gains weve made against ISIS.
Whats more, the South Carolina senator, a foreign policy hawk, didnt get so much as a heads-up from Trump.
The Syria decision on its face is indefensible, Fox News contributor Jonah Goldberg told me. The way he went about it, if the reporting is accurate, is indefensible. Republicans were looking for something they could criticize him on that didnt amount to aiding and abetting impeachment.
The widespread criticism from Republicans and some conservative commentators doesnt automatically mean the president made the wrong call. He ran against endless wars and had obviously grown tired of having U.S. troops stationed in northern Syria. Much of the public may side with him. But in media and political circles the withdrawal is viewed as abandoning our Kurdish allies, who helped turn the tide against ISIS, to a potential massacre by the Turks, who view them as terrorists.
Its Trumps one-man rulehis own Pentagon was blindsided by the announcementthat sometimes alienates his natural allies.
Most Republicans have stood by the president on Russia, on Ukraine, on impeachment. But the Syria decision drew sharp criticism from Nikki Haley, Marco Rubio, Liz Cheneyeven Mitch McConnell.

if my son what sent over to that shithole to die, I would want to even the score. We don’t need to be fighting thousand year old wars for tribes that hate each other.
We owe the Kurds nothing. They helped us because it helped the,, period.

It’s just momentum. The public is against endless wars, and the politicians will,be be no choice but to catch up eventually.
end endless wars now.
these globalist a-holes are more interested in syria than the real battle which is on the border.
Not our fight, not our problem.
PDJT should withdraw troops from not only the Middle East (Possible exception Iraq) and South Korea and Japan. S Korea and Japan are prosperous advanced countries if they can’t defend themselves from starving N Koreans or incompetent PLA troops then they deserve to lose.
Pull US troops back to Guam, Hawaii and Saipan.
Better yet, reposition them to the US Southern Border.
Pis_ing off all the right people. Throw Bolton in there and you have a straight!
Why did we turn our backs on the Soviet Union after they helped us defeat the Nazis in WWII?
Lets be honest. This is bad. We condemn the Armenian genocide and now turkey is doing the same thing again. This was a minimal military risk for us and a very worthwhile and a good return military readiness training. The Kurds were doing the boots on the ground part.
“Pis_ing off all the right people. Throw Bolton in there and you have a straight!”
Thank you
Yeah, the media says he abandoned them to the Turks...
The reality is he abandoned them to the Syrians- who have stepped up to their defence.
Its just momentum.
I think it’s about defense contractor donations. there’s BIG MONEY in war contracts. Many fortunes have been made on supplying the military, going back to the Civil War and earlier.
“The Syria decision on its face is indefensible, Fox News contributor Jonah Goldberg told me.”
Chubby momma’s boy Jonah needs to volunteer for combat infantry.
Yes, I’m sure that is a big part.
But politicians usually aren’t thought leaders. They get into office, get into the bubble and bask in the power and miney, and then spend the rest of their careers trying to figure out what the voters want to hear.
Except its the Turks who are our allies. NATO, remember them?
Its just momentum. The public is against endless wars, and the politicians will,be be no choice but to catch up eventually.

Every single one of the scumbags screaming about Trump betraying the Kurds would be screaming about Trump getting us into another no-win war if he’d committed to the conflict.
Not a single one of them has anything even vaguely resembling moral integrity or honor.
“if my son what sent over to that shithole to die, I would want to even the score. We dont need to be fighting thousand year old wars for tribes that hate each other.”
The only reason our armed forces should be used is if a group or nation is a threat to us. If they are an immediate threat, kill them now. If they are a potential threat have our forces ready to kill them if needed.
The problem was Turkeys leader TOLD Trump he was going in Trump did not want our troops in harms way Turkey is in NATO what are we going to war with Turkey for going over the Syrian border NO!!! The Kurds at some point HAVE TO stand on their own, we cant stay there forever, it has been 20 years in this region ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!
