Side story: A school district near me had an American Indian in full headdress as its symbol. It was a very noble rendering. Nothing silly or demeaning.
One person complained. Just one single person! And she wasn’t even an American Indian. Well, everyone folded. The symbol was changed. School letterheads had to be reprinted. School jerseys had to be reordered, etc.
What’s the best word to describe all that? “Pathetic” might do.
