Nigel Farage: Boris should accept Brexit delay
Scram news ^ | 15 October 2019 | Sam Bright

Chief Brexiteer Nigel Farage has said that Boris Johnson should accept a delay to Brexit.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Farage addresses the Prime Minister directly – calling on him to accept the Brexit extension that’s been “forced” on him by MPs.

Indeed, if Johnson doesn’t come back from Brussels with a deal this week, he is mandated to ask the EU for a Brexit delay until 31st January 2020.

And now, after haranguing MPs for weeks for “betraying” Brexit, Farage is also in favour of a delay.

He says that Johnson should “sit out” this week’s EU summit, “accept the extension,” and go into the next election arguing for a no-deal Brexit – rather than spending any more time negotiating with the EU.

This is a pretty baffling change of heart from Farage, who organised a “Brexit betrayal” march earlier this year when MPs decided to delay our departure date. Under the same rules, he should surely now organise one against himself, right?

The referendum was three years ago? That’s not enough of a delay?

Correct. It’s far too long - the UK has already asked TWICE for a delay.

Now they should give the people of northern Ireland what they voted for, namely to stay in the customs union with no borders with the Republic. Then they should leave on October 31.

Scotland would soon leave but then both Scotland and NI are drags on the English economy, so better if they are cut off.

But Johnson can’t force an election by January because of the Fixed Term Parliament Act.

From Farage’s point of view it makes complete sense - Boris’ deal would most likely get the muster to get through parliament - he would get most of the Tory votes + a large chunk of Labour MP votes.

If Boris does that and gets a deal by october 31, he proves that

1. He delivered Brexit by 31.October

2. He got the Northern Irish happy

This would then destroy the Brexit party, just as the Tories earlier moves in 2014 destroyed UKIP (Farage’s previous party) in the 2015 election.

But if Boris delays Brexit then his chances for re-election are destroyed and Farage gets the upper hand for his party (as he then has a source of outrage).

Nope, not a liberal. Just posting out the news on Brexit.

It’s a wonderful political soap opera, with twists and turns at every corner!

It’s from Farage’s own youtube channel. Do you think that Nigel is a EU globalist Brexit hating astroturking globalist pest?

>>>Farage says that Johnson should “sit out” this week’s EU summit, “accept the extension,” and go into the next election arguing for a no-deal Brexit

Or he could just do a no-deal Brexit in two weeks. Obviously, Farage does not like the current deal Johnson is proposing and is afraid ir could pass.

NO MORE DELAYS!!!

Delays only empower the socialists.

If the UK is not out on 1 November, Boris Johnson will be a failure.

A deal can be made after the UK leaves.

What would Britain be able to do in 2 months that they have failed to do in over 2 years?

Brexit NOW!

As long as the rest of the UK gets to make trade deals without reference to the EU I’m happy. If neccessary we can just bribe the DUP with cash and enshrine it in an act of Parliament like the Barnett formula with Scotland so they’ll have something to take to their supporters as a win. That way Northern Ireland benefits from Brexit but the Unionists get to stay in the UK but the Irish get to continue their defacto union with the rest of Ireland. They’re only a province of about 1.5 million people so we can take the hit.

I wouldn’t rest your hopes too much on the Northern Irish wanting to leave the UK though, according to the last census the catholic population of NI is still just a little over 40%, but 13% of Catholics actually identify as British (and some will identify as Irish but support the union for pragmatic reasons) wheras only 2.1% identify as Irish, so the protestant community is more fiercely pro-British than the Catholic community is pro-Irish identity. As anyone who knows anything about northern ireland knows, identity is everything.

Garage on target per usual. The people will back a real Brexit from Boris in an election, no need to negotiate a partial Need it now.

The only rational reason for a delay is to give foreigners enough time to overwhelm the British patriots to either revoke or dilute leaving the EUSSR.

Boris is in a bad position to negotiate a deal, when he’s seemingly forced to accept any deal the EU gives him.

He would be in a better negotiating position after a Oct 31 “no deal” crash-out.

The discussion so far has all focused on the economic pain that would be felt by the UK, and no attention on the economic pain felt by the EU were it to suddenly lose tariff-free access to the UK market.

Technically all of the UK can make a trade deal post Brexit without reference to the EU.

The only thing would be that goods/services sent to NI would need to follow EU regulations.

This looks like a win-win for all sides.

DUP’s followers are eroding. There is no need for a bribe for them.

England-Wales would be better off without Northern Ireland economically, politically and diplomatically.

The NI/RoI divide is no longer seen as purely sectarian, due to the increasing secularisation of both states and also because the RoI has quite a few Protestants doing quite well.

More and more see themselves as “Irish” - and religion (or lack of it) as something separate.
