After the war, she made sure each and every one of those children were returned to their parents (if alive), or other family members, or were placed with Jewish adoptive families if their natural families could not be located.
She kept her solemn promise to their parents to keep them alive AND maintain their Jewish identity.
Also, the Communists harassed her constantly in Post-War Poland.
In 1968, there was a purge of Jews in the country, and Irena told the authorities that she would do the same thing that she did during the War.
