ever be PRETTY
I have never heard that before unless the child had down syndrome which by what you just said the child did not. “Never be pretty”? What was she a show dog?
FYI, families in several foreign nations see PRETTY girl children as an “asset to sell” for extra cash. - In point of fact, in some places, a family with several pretty daughters may become WEALTHY from SELLING their daughters “to the highest bidder”.
Fwiw, I have a longtime “best buddy” from Asia who was “SOLD for a HIGH bride price” at age 11 to a man in his 40s, who planned to marry her at 15YO, provided that she was still a virgin.
(When she was 14 her “bride price” was paid in full & she was therefore “officially engaged”. Then her “soon to be husband” died in an auto accident & she inherited all of his property. = Such girls are, in that society, called “VIRGIN WIDOWS” & are free to remarry at age 18.)
My friend “converted his property into cash”, came to the USA as a “foreign student” in August 1978, entered GA Tech’s engineering college (where I met her), graduated, got married to another GA Tech student & later became a US citizen. = “Misty” now lives in Atlanta.
And US girls/women think that US society treats them unfairly & that “they have it TOUGH”??
(I wonder how the typical US girlchild would feel about being SOLD at 8-12YO to some man that she had never even seen.)
