Are the fires purposely started so California can grab Federal funds?

I’d prefer that nobody gets hurt, but sometimes you need to clear out all that underbrush, one way or another...

This is why PG&E (did I get that acronym right?) cut all the power ahead of time. They didn’t want to get blamed when all the homeless camping in the hills leave dope out and let their embers fly into the wind.

Eight hundred acres per hour??? That’s downright hard to fathom.

Like fires have never happened before?

http://www.authorama.com/two-years-before-the-mast-12.html

In the middle of this crescent, directly opposite the anchoring ground, lie the mission and town of Santa Barbara, on a low, flat plain.......

The only thing which diminishes its beauty is, that the hills have no large trees upon them, they having been all burnt by a great fire which swept them off about a dozen years before, and they had not yet grown up again. The fire was described to me by an inhabitant, as having been a very terrible and magnificent sight. The air of the whole valley was so heated that the people were obliged to leave the town and take up their quarters for several days upon the beach.

Hey, that’s odd. Wildfires in California. I thought California had eradicated those pesky wildfires years ago by thinning small trees and clearing brush. Must have been set by angry Trump voters.

Should've cut power in the south too.

Evacuation zones. The fire is located at the northern edge of the city of Los Angeles.

Just before dawn at the western end of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Phos Chek fire retardant drop.

And they still won’t allow loggers to thin forests and clear bush because of a family of mice.

Take away people’s power and they’re more likely to start fires, for numerous reasons.
