Yep...as a native Kentuckian, decades ago, CA would have easily been the number 1 state. Now, it’s a shithole.

There is one other issue. From what I have read the “smart meters” have a tendency to catch fire when there is a power surge.

Watch for homes to burn when the power restarts.

Living on the Gulf Coast it’s a good idea to own your own generator. All I have to do is make sure we have plenty of gasoline when preparing for the occasional hurricane. Helps to live on high ground too.

“PG&E when it filed for bankruptcy should have just folded and told Caliponia to go Ef it’s self!”

Back in 2001 it filed and it was a “S-Show” then. I had moved out of the state the year prior due to this factor and insane utility costs, taxes and zero accountability at the government and the utilities supported by them. The tax payers took it in the shorts back then but now the numbers are far worse and no one is asking the question to why is the infrastructure in the shape it is in. I also had the opinion to let PG&E die but now the imbedded and controlling utility falls under the to big to fail premise. Now the state is held hostage to PG&E and the government that is also in my opinion completely to blame for this. I would even go as far as dropping the deaths of the fire victims at their feet. I know it won’t solve anything but its pure and simple mismanagement on many levels.

Insanity...

Most people don’t know they need to strip their breaker box and when power is restored to bring on circuits one at a time. Brown outs kill refrigerators. I remember parking lots full of refrigerators after Ike and Rita.

I weep for the late, great Golden State. I am glad I was there before insanity took complete hold.

Those billions pissed away on that train to nowhere sure could have rebuilt a good chunk of the electrical grid.

Keep voting for Democrats and this is what you get.

All they had to do is recognize their short term solutions result in unintended consequences as usual. Environmentalists are not good stewards of our forests. If they had "managed" their forests instead of walling them off from any kind of resource for the state they would not have to shut off the power, they would have trimmed and cleared the trees near the lines on a yearly basis, like Pacific Power does in Oregon.

Environmentalists destroy forests roads on purpose, so no human can get into the forest, how do you manage a huge state forest if no man can ever get their to practice good stewardship? Reap what you sow! Bet you $100 the Californians continue on the road to Marxism, even in the dark without electricity,

They were duly warned.

No.
Stay in California.
They voted for this crap in the People’s Republic of California. We don’t need them bringing this luggage to other states.
We need a longer wall.

This seems criminal to me. How are people supposed to eat? Could end up being a humanitarian disaster. People have already been killed in intersections with no power.

And still no wind to speak of.

This is the mildest fire season in California in over 20 years. This is complete nonsense.

***PG&E’s shutdown strategy to avoid starting fires is the result of California’s energy economy being thrown off balance by climate change, Borenstein said. (snip)
“Utilities have been having transmission and distribution failures since there’s been electricity, and they’ve started fires,” Borenstein said. “The difference is in the last decade we’ve seen the start of massive fires in ways that weren’t happening before.”***

Dodo heads. The reason they have fires is because California restricts where they can cut the underbrush. They don’t use irrigation there anymore, gotta protect the endangered (fill in the blank). This is caused by mismanagement and overregulation.

I feel sorry for those afflicted, because this is all avoidable, but they seem to keep voting in nimrods. I would suggest they might move, but I also don’t want them bringing their ridiculous ideas with them to my area. Fix it!

Step 1 towards a government takeover of PG&E because only the government can do it right.

I am not sure how exactly, but the California Public Utilities Commission created the scenario which enabled PG&E to go this route.
