some very unappetizing reviews on Amazon. I’ll pass unless I see some in a store and can try just one.
The trouble with veganism is that it isnt just meat they dont eat. Its anything related to animals, from dairy to eggs to honey. They cut many vital nutrients out of their diet including a lot of supplements. And they eat a lot of bad foods like soy.
The most shocking part of this story was in the first sentence.
“After suffering a variety of unidentifiable health issues that baffled their doctors...”
That actually appears to be the case, upon reading the article. So, we now have “Doctors” that are “baffled” when confonted with a case of malnutrition? That is a bit concerning..lol.
I have read about vegetarians who immigrated to the US and developed health issues. It turned out the food quality was low in their native country so they actually consumed a fair amount of insects. In the US, where food standards are higher, they did not get insects in their diet and developed nutritional deficiencies.
No Kroger stores near me. Closest is in Syracuse about 150 miles one way. Unfortunately, no matter how good it is, I won’t be driving 300 miles.
at a minimum, vegans get no B-12 unless they artificially supplement ...without B-12 supplementation, the B-12 stores in a vegan’s liver will run out in a few years, and they’ll develop the same symptoms as someone with pernicious anemia, where said symptoms are numerous and varied, and eventually include death ...
Since a lot of products in grocery store chains are regional there’s no guarantee that the Epic bars are in all the Krogers anyway.
I thought the story was pretty ironic because of the vegans producing snacks made from dead animals.
They only carry three flavors at our Kroger and I’ve tried two and they are fine, I don’t stay awake looking forward to my next one. But on the other hand they suit a very useful purpose in my diet and they are basically palatable.
You can find almost anything online at an acceptable price if you really do the research. Do you want to buy a box of a dozen before trying? That becomes problematic.
Since I have tried a couple flavors already I found that target.com has pretty decent price on a couple of flavors and with patient research I did find a good buy on the venison ones on Amazon. $19 for a dozen which includes free shipping as an Amazon Prime customer. Would I have bought a dozen without having tried them before? Probably not.
