At reported at “79”, not so early.

What percentage of patients who undergo chemo and/or radiation therapy are actually helped or cured by it?

...

That depends on the type of cancer. The answers are here:

He’s a gutsy guy in every way. I’m hoping he recovers but in the end, his fate is in the hands of the Almighty.

I would say it’s the same reason he didn’t retire at 65.

Well I don't know what that reason is and only can assume that things have changed. That said, if it's the private sector it's up to him and his boss.

We will miss Trebek, but his type of cancer is maybe the worst type. It is very painful and debilitating. Prayers for his journey to be as pain free as possible.

[Jeopardy won’t be the same without him.]

No matter who they replace him with, it will become as dull and boring and suffer the same daytime-slot fate as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire did when Regis left.....

And yet somehow Ruth Bader Ginsburg is still alive....

He can’t be any worse than Dick Clark on New Years Eve after the stroke.

You know, I could actually see him doing that - if he would keep his stupid opinions to himself.

Personally I know a lot so it can work but it’s a complicated process.

I recall reading somewhere that most of the videotapes of the Art Fleming hosted episodes of Jeopardy were destroyed in the great purge of videotapes and films circa 1975 upon the orders of NBC’s program director at the time (who should have been arrested of course, lol).

He seems like a possible choice, much as I dislike his politics and his general smarminess.

How I LONG to hear these words by many of the fossils in Congress:

The Senator/Representative spoke candidly about his future in Congress!, acknowledging that the side effects of age/dementia may cause them to leave the Congress earlier than anticipated. “I talk to my constituents about this all the time now. I say, ‘Look, I’m slurring my words. My tongue doesn’t work as well as it used to, It makes it difficult for me to speak, think, and enunciate properly. And they say, ‘Well, we notice.’ I say, ‘I notice those things too.’ And I’m sure there are observant members of the public who notice also. But they’re forgiving, and I’ll accept that. I HAVE NO INTEREST IN DYING IN MY SEAT IN CONGRESS LIKE THE VERY SELFISH JOHN McCAIN. As if it matters. McCain will soon be forgotten by everyone but family.”

They did, and the show vanished for years until Trebek made it a part of homes for 40 years. He is pretty much the only face for the show for anyone under 70.

The Price is Right was very lucky with Drew. Not too many people see the show as Bob Barker’s these days. Family Feud is another that had to go through years of mediocrity until Steve Harvey made it fun again.

Wheel of Fortune is near that point where they will have to do something when Sajak retires.

But it can be done. Lots of classic game shows have had comebacks the past 2 years, but again, all of those shows were off the air for years or decades.

“Family Feud is another that had to go through years of mediocrity until Steve Harvey made it fun again.”

I always felt sorry for Ray Coombs, as he seemed to be that very nice, decent fellow (despite his personal issues) who tried hard to be that good host despite the immediate comparisons with Richard. You certainly are correct with the idea with Steve Harvey making the show fun again.
