I still think about snipe hunting.
"Gold doubloons and pieces-of-eight ..."
Gadzooks and General Jackson-- Looks like even a old dog like me can hear something totally new and unexpected.
In al my 72 years, including the 30 some odd spent on or about the loony left coast, I never ever heard anyone say such about Annette Funicello.
I heard some whisper her acting was not on the level of Bette Davis or Marlon Brando.
And I recall one or two being ticked off that she did not ever wear a bikini in her surf films.
BUT NEVER EVER, until today, have I heard someone say she was "an unattractive motor-mouth and overrated camera hog"
I am sure there are uncounted millions of Annette Fans out there what would say:
"Them's... fightin' words!"
Now, now, Bendy. Ancient Man is just giving his opinion... and as much as I cannot say I like what he says about me, he does have the right to express his freedom of speech.
And that is why we all... just love the hell out of her?

She was my first crush, back when I was 6.
I was just going through internet photos of Annette and came upon it, finding a very, very warm feeling in remembering. It is below:
And ever today I have no shame for having done it!

Nor should you, Bender. Not at all.
“Re: Most of my friends favored the heavily promoted Annette, who I viewed at the time as an unattractive motor-mouth and overrated camera hog...”
Is that you, Bruce Jenner?
I was totally jealous of her because she had boobs and I didn’t (yet). Plus the way the boys went nuts over her. I did feel very bad for her when she ended up in a wheelchair and passed away too young.
When the Beatles landed !
I watched The Mickey Mouse Club everyday, and I always identified with Karen. So sad to hear of her passing.
I think he played with Lawrence Welk and the Carpenters. He is still around.
I was in awe of them all...a magic kingdom indeed.
Condolences to family and friends of Karen Pendleton. Thanks, Karen. love
(Baby’s so high that she’s skying)
(Yes, she’s flying, afraid to fall)
(I’ll tell you why baby’s crying)
(’Cause she’s dying, aren’t we all)

BTW, was reading that Johnny Crawford, famous for the Rifleman, but one of the original Mouseketeers, is suffering from dementia. Been a while.
From Mickey Mouse Club to Drag Queen Storytime. WTF?
I assume that you are referring to Howie66 #27 reply "Is that you, Bruce Jenner?" to post #23 referring to Annette being called by Ancient Man's #14 post: "...an unattractive motor-mouth and overrated camera hog..."
Gadzooks, P-- It is called humor. Try it on my say so.
Sadly she passed away on January 6, 2009 at the age of 64, way too young at lung cancer. As per her wikipedia page she was once linked to Elvis, acted professionally in "Leave It to Beaver" in 1959 and in a string of popular sitcoms until lastly in 1987's "The New Leave It to Beaver." She was married three times without any children.
As per Johnny Crawford, he suffers from Alzheimer's disease and in a youtube video on "A Word on Westerns" he is not doing well at all

Bender2 does understand my sense of humor.
Bless his heart.
:-)
Thanks for having my back, brother!
