My browser url for FR shows a not secure connection. Has FR let its Internet certificate expire or is it not using the https format? We users enjoy this site but want the security of https.
In the mean time, try a VPN.
So add the s. It runs both ways. It may break some images hosted on non secure sites.
Clear your cookies. Manually enter the url with https. Update your FR bookmark.
I have had good luck with IpVanish VPN. If you hunt around you can get it for 3 bones a month. I have a 100 megabit connection and see 90 up 90 down encrypted so pretty low overhead.
2000 or so servers worldwide to pick from and I run a script that picks the fastest one. (Lowest ping time) I see 15ms pings to the backbone encrypted. I tunnel out over 443 using TCP protocol so all my traffic looks like secure browsing.
They don’t keep logs so I am virtually invisible.
At my age I dont care anymore. If somebody wants me, bring it.
Roger that.
ping
There are other benefits to being on a VPN. It is a crapload harder (As in would give NSA fits) to get hacked on a VPN connection especially if you connect to public WIFI. It is relatively easy to hack people connected to public WIFI. $100 rig in a backpack (Pi, USB Powerpack, WIFI adapter, Kali Linux and your phone connected bluetooth to the Pi via SSH) and anyone at the Starbucks doing any transaction unless they are on a VPN can be owned and the hacker just looks like they are messing with their phone like 90% of the people in there.
Boom... they have your CC, your security code, your address, etc.
It shows as secure on my IPad.
The only tech I use is an IPad and the only thing I do with it is freep. The most anyone is going to get from snooping on me are my freeps.
Back in the old alt net days I used to point out to the guys on the encryption net that the secure encryption that was 256 bit unbreakable was very likely written by the NSA and had a loop that forwarded every encrypted banana bread recipe straight to the NSA. I wouldnt doubt they have done the same thing with VPNs. IOW, there is in MHO a very good chance all you are doing by using tricks to avoid them is making it easier for them to scrutinize the people they really want to keep an eye on. Nothing in this world is what it seems to be anymore.
I may regret saying that if something does happen but nothing ever has.
If something happens to me and you it wont be us alone. All they will really accomplish is enrage millions of us and that will blow up on them quickly.
Your ISP is catching the end destination URL anyhow even on HTTPS. HTTPS is for privacy of the “content” you send, Being a public forum if they want to chase content they can just come and read your public viewable content here.
Now if it was a private club that had no open public viewing access without registering and logging in like Twitter or facebook, Or sensitive connections like banks then HTTPS would be a necessity for sure. A VPN is the only way to go if you want a direct secure content pipeline to everything.
The only real need for HTTPS here might be for private messaging content. Even then it is wise to find a more secure place or service to share sensitive content than a web forum private messaging feature. Prudence is a good practice even with so called private messaging in forums like this.
Mine is set to https
I beg to differ. I am sure the NSA can crack RSA 2048 but not easily nor cheaply. That will only come when Quantum Computers are about 5 years ahead of where they are now. I am not worried about the NSA looking at my data anyway. I just don’t want the neighbor kid to have access to my banking nor some Antifa Phag at Starbucks decide to make max contributions to PP and sHrillary on my CC. 3 bucks a month is a small price to pay.
