A director has revealed he was offered money to replace an actor with Down's syndrome in his film because he didn't have a 'marketable face'.

Zack Gottsagen, 34, from Florida, appeared on This Morning alongside the director of his debut film The Peanut Butter Falcon - in which he plays a young man who follows his dream of becoming a professional wrestler.

Tyler Nilson, from North Carolina, revealed on the show that movie bosses weren't convinced the film would be profitable, and offered him a bigger budget if he changed the lead actor.

Kudos to the director for sticking to his guns. Studio should have been more worried about casting Shia. He is erratic..and that is putting it nicely.

Shia did his best acting job, perhaps ever. A very heart warming story and worth seeing.

I don’t think I could ever watch a movie with Sharia LaPoof in it knowing what a dick he is in real life.

Could just be a director trying to get publicity for his movie. Don’t trust any of these Hollywood types.

What is a marketable face for someone with Downs Syndrome?

Typically movie studios are in business to make money.
They may be wrong, but they do make decisions about casting, length, promotion, etc. There are very few directors that get a free hand.
