Not sure how much an impact this has on things but a lot of people are now raising chickens at home and putting eggs in a self-serve stand out at curbside on the honor system along with produce they might be growing in their yards. Several of them are in my neighborhood and I like the eggs from there.

You have it backwards. Eating more eggs will likely lower your cholesterol.

I can't believe people still fall for this misinformation.

Dietary cholesterol is actually good for you. In the absence of dietary cholesterol, your body will produce it and it is likely to be the "bad" cholesterol.

LOL! I prefer cheese to damn near anything. More cheesey the better.

I have too much American cheese and am tirelessly working to whittle it down before it starts to go bad.

Eggs, meat, compost, feathers, weed and bug patrol, guard dogs, Chicken Foot Soup (j/k), - they do it all!

And I hear they’re entertaining too. A friend of mine who raises them says sometimes he and his wife will sit on the porch and just watch the hens go about their hen business out in the yard — foraging around, pecking at bugs, etc.

All these kinds of stories are just snapshots in time. Any capital intensive business has to endure market fluctuations, and commodity production is much more volatile than most.

Most eggs come from giant, well-capitalized corporations that love to hire illegals. No one would suffer if the price of eggs doubled permanently.

Nothing better! You can’t be sad when you’re watching hens be hens.

I’ve raised hundreds through the years and there are a few that I’ll never forget. Very interesting personalities on some of those old biddies. ;)

Three of my faves were, ‘Gray Lady’ who could NOT be contained no matter how high the fence, and ‘Cagney’ and ‘Lacy.’ When I have laying hens again, they’re all going to be named for female TV stars from the 70’s. ;)

It’ll be fun to tell Beau what ‘Farah Faucet’ or ‘Linda Carter’ was up to on any given day. Of course, there HAS to be a ‘Pepper Anderson,’ LOL! (’Police Woman’) ;)

LOL — yep, that sounds about right. He said his hens were better than watching TV.
