Isn’t there a nasty disease from eating squirrel(squirrel brains that is). I guess that if you stick to the meat, you should be okay.

Texas Parks and Wildlife put out a memo many years ago about the dangers of leaving the heads on tree-rats while cooking them. It can bring on dementia.
