That is the dumbest statement I’ve seen here recently. If Trump don’t do what you want, you’re going to give it to a Dem. You are an idiot.
Five million is an estimate of NRA members, gun owners in the US are estimated as, by Gallup, 3 in every 10 adult Americans. About 78% of the US population is over 18, thus around 76 million of 255 million people own guns. That is a far cry more than NRA’s membership.

We had a more solid Republican majority Congress during the Obama Administration years. The Democrats have been pushed harder since then by elite folks (rich b*****s) to outlaw the right for common people to keep and bear arms. Their favorite con$tituent$ have ingested too many television fictions about the end of the world and are freaking out on their own shadows.

I wrote President Trump, my CongressCritter and both Senators the following email letter a few days ago.
[All of you reading this post must understand that your CongressCritter and Senators, as well as POTUS, will probably have a limit on the length of your email letter. Mine was too long, so I had to edit it. I am posting the entire letter I wanted them to read in the hope that it spurs many of you to put yours together and send it.]
Here it is:
Dear President Trump,
I am a retired Navy Captain; I served my country for 28½ years, always bearing in mind that my oath to “. . . support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. . . .” was inviolate. I first took that oath on March 4, 1963, and have re-taken it upon each promotion during my service years. I still honor and live by that Oath.
I am a patriot; I love the United States of America and revere the Rule of Law and the US Constitution, both of which differentiate the USA from every nation in the world. Faith, Freedom, Duty, Honor, Country have been my guide posts throughout life.
As a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, I am very distressed by the knee-jerk “ban the gun mentality” the Liberal chattering and professional political classes have brought into the public debate. Thus far, no pundit or politician has suggested any change to our system which would reduce gun violence.
Indeed, the Liberal “suggestions” and “demands” I am familiar with do nothing more than make criminals of law-abiding citizens. Parenthetically, I believe that IS the REAL Liberal intent, and I further believe that they want to ban private gun ownership in the USA. We must not let them prevail!
I believe that the proper approach to take is to review ALL of the federal laws now on the books and throw out the unconstitutional ones and the ones (and there are many!) that don’t work. Then seek ways and means to enforce the remainder in a proper and Constitutional manner.
Lenient policies and a lack of discipline in our schools and courtrooms are the cause of our difficulties in regards to gun violence and crime, not an absence of laws. We have enough laws; surely we do not need any new ones – a Presidential Commission MIGHT be helpful in this regard.
And, please, drop the notion of implementing or encouraging “Red Flag” laws. It is my considered opinion that existing state “Red Flag” laws are unconstitutional in respect of the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments to the US Constitution, and will be adjudged so in the near term.
I write to urge you to preserve the Second Amendment to the US Constitution. Please take no action which will infringe on the God-given US citizen’s rights the Founding Fathers so wisely enshrined therein.

We are not alone. Millions of voters will avoid the federal elections if betrayed on the Second Amendment.
If red flag laws become the law of the land voting probably won’t matter much at that point anyway because the shooting will be starting shortly thereafer IMO.
I don’t think it’s time to panic...yet. I’m “okay with” my optimism and I have have a healthy skepticism as well...However, I believe that Trump will have a second term and that he’ll have a damned good 2nd term. Good enough that I would vote for him a third time if I could. Trump’s first three years worth of progress have been impeded and we know why. I want to see what he can do once they have been sufficiently beaten back, drained from the swamp, sent to jail, etc.
I tweet to his account often - i believe he has folks sifting through them to get a feel for what we think...

The DOJ version of ‘expanded background checks” pretty much pads an ever-growing federal gun registry which paves the way for future despots to “keep us safe” by disarming us and leaving us at their mercy...
Our guns are the only real obstacle to those who would subjugate us and by now, Mr. President, you should know their intents very well.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Trump likes to bury bad Dim ideas by saying he’d consider them if packaged with something they’ll never do.
The media, including Breitbart, loves to report this as Trump about to betray us all (because they’d love to have a “Read my lips” meme to run with).
E.g. DACA for the wall.
Then of course the Dims don’t trade (their) strategic loss for (their) tactical win, and life goes on until the next manufactured crisis.
It seems intended to show his willingness to do a deal and highlight the Dims’ fanaticism. It is not a demonstration for the already decided on our side or theirs.
This worried me the first three times or so too, but he’s done this Lucy and football trick to them dozens of times now.

Laz no laws have even been voted on much less passed and signed by Trump. He’s just playing these people til the clock runs out.
Trump in the last 48 hours said that after Bobby O’Rourke’s threats to seize all privately owned firearms that any deals on gun control are now dead.
I don’t think Trump really meant to get any gun control passed but by agreeing to discuss it he stole the momentum from the Democrats and the issue has started to fade away.
Now it’s a non-starter because the Democrats are openly calling for confiscation proving that any compromises on guns will not include compromises in our direction...just theirs.
And that’s not a deal anymore than trade with China is a ‘deal’.
